UToledo Researchers Take Over National Academic Research Program

The University of Toledo researchers shared their expertise with a national audience in September through The Academic Minute, a public radio program that provides scholars the opportunity to share their expertise
in their own words.

Five UToledo faculty members participated in a program takeover with one expert featured each day during the last week of September.

Dr. Rupali Chandar 
Monday, Sept. 23
Professor of astronomy in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, explained her work peering deep into space to identify and understand young and expanding galaxies.

Dr. Bina Joe
Tuesday, Sept. 24
Distinguished University Professor and chair of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology in the College of Medicine and Life Science, outlined her research into the role played by microbiota in regulating blood pressure.

Dr. Celia Williamson
Wednesday, Sept. 25
Distinguished University Professor and director of the UToledo Human Trafficking and Social Justice Institute in the College of Health and Human Services, discussed her research into how traffickers use social media.

Dr. Neil Reid
Thursday, Sept. 26
Professor of geography and planning in the College of Arts and Letters, talked about his recent study that found craft breweries increase residential property values.

Dr. Amit Tiwari
Friday, Sept. 27
Associate professor of pharmacology and experimental therapeutics in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, reviewed his innovative work of identifying new compounds that provide hope for treating multidrug resistant cancer.
